General Rules & Information
1. The Junior Livestock Sale will be held Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m.
2. Only bonafide 4-H & FFA members in good standing of Sierra County are allowed to sell animals.
3. All sale exhibitors must be on hand to help with set-up for the sale and help with the Buyers Dinner. Attendance will be confirmed by a sign-in sheet. If any exhibitor chooses NOT to participate in either event, the Fair will assess a penalty of 10% of the total sale price of all their sale animal{s) in addition to the 5% sale charge. Exhibitors may be excused due to extreme circumstances, only with approval of the Livestock Sale Committee.
4. Animals eligible to sell are: Market Steers, Market Lambs, Market Swine, Meat Goat, Best Junior (4-H or FFA) Rabbit and Best Junior (4-H or FFA) Poultry exhibited in the Sierra County Fair.
5. An exhibitor will be limited to selling two animals.
6. Animals will be sold in order of placing with Grand and Reserve Champions selling first.
7. Grand Champion Steer, Lamb, Barrow, Meat Goat, Champion “County Bred” Steer, Lamb, Barrow, Meat Goat, Best Junior Rabbit and Best Junior Poultry are REQUIRED to sell unless such would result in one exhibitor selling more than two animals.
8. A total of 54 animals will be sold in the sale. Sell one from each class of steers, lambs, swine, goats, and % the rest to make a total of 11 steers - 13 lambs - 13 hogs - 13 meat goats, also 2 Best Junior Rabbits, and 2 Best Junior Poultry will sell.
9. In the event an eligible animal cannot be sold, after the sale order has been set, that sale slot will remain open.
10. Any exhibitor having an animal or animals entered in the sale is prohibited from seeking special privileges from buyers, (such as asking permission to repurchase the animal from the buyer to be shown again or to be used for other purposes.) If exhibitor seeks special privileges from the purchaser they will forfeit all premium and sales monies, over packer’s bid, and the livestock committee may refuse entries in future fairs.
11. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Any animal sold once in auction CANNOT be donated back and resold again for any purpose or reason at this auction sale.
12. A 5% sale charge will be deducted from animals sold in sale to pay incurred costs.
